Trying to juggle being a parent and a home minister at the same time can be tricky. On one hand, you have to attend to your tiny human needs, and on the other hand, you have to keep your lovely abode all spick and span. But fret not parents, we’ve got your back covered with cleaning hacks that are going to make your life easier!
#1 Remove crayon from your walls
Having a little Van Gogh at home with loose crayons at hands can be terrifying! There’s nothing quite like coming home after a long day at work to find your little artist new masterpiece all over your walls. Before you go into panic mode, there is a safe, non-toxic way to remove them from your walls. To create this ‘magic’ solution, you only need to mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil with 1/8 teaspoon of lemon essential oil. Not only the crayons are gone, but you will also feel relief and relax as it will leave your home smelling so fresh and so clean! Alternatively, you can also use a surface cleaner to save time.
#2 Organize kid’s artwork
I know sometimes your kid’s colouring pages can end up all over your living room and pretty much anywhere your kid’s inspiration takes place. And of course, it can be annoying, to say the least picking up after these scattered pages. To help you curb the mess, all you need is a drying rack. Yup, your average drying rack! The coated wire cushions are great to place colouring books and loose pages. If you have a diaper caddy that’s just sitting in the room, you may use it to store crayons, colour pencils, and other artsy stuff.
#3 Have a place for everything
If you have watched The Home Edit on Netflix, you would already know this! Invest in storage containers or baskets to organize every room in the house. Not only they look cute, but they are also the best catch-all place for your kids to toss stuff in. Focus on storing like with like. For example, organize the books together, toys together, and etc. Place a name sticker on the basket so your kid knows everything that belongs to them should be in the basket at the end of the day.
#4 Baby wipes – a life saviour
The ultimate hack must-have for moms is baby wipes! You can use them for absolutely everything from wiping off countertops, to removing makeups, to cleaning dirty bums. They can also be used to dust, to wipe off bathroom faucets, or to clean up stains on rugs. The best part of all? They are super handy and cheap!
#5 Clean as you cook
Get in the habit of cleaning the kitchen as you cook. Wash the bowls, knives, and cutting board once you are done using them. Discard food scraps and trash. Wipe down the countertops and stoves after use. You will save a lot of time by doing this and you will never want to see dirty dishes piling up in the sink ever again!
And mommies, keeping a house clean is teamwork and you should get everyone involved. It’s never too early to teach your kids to clean and tidy. Get the little ones to clean after their own toys and books and your husband to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen every night. You may also want to plan a cleaning schedule for everyone in the house. You know what they say, teamwork makes the dream work!
